Wellness Retreats See Surge In Post-Lockdown Popularity

According to new data, wellness retreats saw a massive 81% increase in search volume from 2019 – 2020, with yoga proving to be the most popular type of wellness retreat in the UK.

Activity camps, meanwhile, saw a 928% rise in interest as cooped-up customers look forward to getting out and about after lockdown.

Overall, demand for wellness retreats has seen a huge spike, with a 1,605% increase over the course of the last five years – and an 81% increase in 2020 alone demonstrating that people are desperate for a physical and mental break once lockdown restrictions are lifted.

It has long been documented that wellness and activity retreats are brilliant for both body and mind, allowing you to reconnect with nature and try new things, while giving yourself some much-needed healing.

Yoga retreats remain the most popular type of retreat being searched for, and saw an 890% increase from January to April in 2020, while searches for meditation retreats also jumped notably.

The many benefits of visiting a wellness retreat include refocusing on yourself and engaging in healthy pursuits like yoga, fitness and meditation, all of which are beneficial for mental health, as well as toning the body.

This sort of self-care is clearly much needed after the past year of lockdown. Not only have we been kept away from our usual healthy pastimes, but not being out in the sunshine has been detrimental for most of us, as this is where we get our best chance of Vitamin D for extra immune protection.  But with lockdown restrictions set to ease, we can finally get our health back on track!
