Jet Candy Featured In Beep Beauty

My In-Flight Beauty Essentials

Are you heading off anywhere nice this summer? If you’re heading on a long haul flight, it can sometimes be a bit tricky to know what to pack so that you arrive at your destination still somewhat resembling a human, especially with the restrictions on the liquids we are allowed to carry on. With a trip coming up this week, a mental list of beauty products to pack was already praying on my mind so I thought I would share some of my essentials that I hope will make you feel a little fresher when you arrive at your destination this year….

One really revolutionary product that I came across this year is Jet Candy, an all natural homeopathic remedy for all of the nasty symptoms of jet lag. So many of us suffer with dreaded jet lag and so the idea of a natural remedy was so appealing when I first read about this. It only contains a handful of ingredients including sucrosearnica (for general fatigue due to the shock to the system from flying), bellis perennis (for venous congestion preventing DVT, and for physical soreness from sitting), cocculus (for ailments resulting from loss of sleep, drowsiness, vertigo and travel sickness), gelsemium (for anticipatory anxiety, fear of flying, trembling, and insomnia from exhaustion) and petroleum (for ailments from plane travel, and for nausea from engine fumes). It comes in an adorable little bottle with an easy twist top that releases the little pillules. I took it for the first time at Christmas and was thrilled that it did indeed seem to reduce my jet lag on the dreaded LA/London flight. One little tip to get the best results: make sure to read the instructions about when to take it. It’s not complicated but you do need to take them before take-off….

Once you’re on the plane and settled in, I really recommend immediately removing all of your make-up. I know it can feel a little disconcerting being surrounded by strangers with no make-up on. Fingers crossed you’re not sat next to a total hottie 😉 However, it really is worth doing this to get rid of any make-up, oil and dirt and to let your skin breathe. I just started using Almay So Baesic Towelettes for just such occasions. Really easy to use and they remove all make-up including waterproof. Plus they are hypoallergenic, fragrance-free and contain soothing hydrating ingredients such as aloe, cucumber and green tea extract.

Once your skin is clear of any make-up, it’s time for some serious moisturization. The atmosphere on a plane can be extremely dehydrating and there is a lot of air pollution, so you want to make sure you both hydrate and protect the skin.

I love to use a refreshing mist throughout the flight such as the Osea Sea Vitamin BoostNot only does this product feel incredibly refreshing, it also helps reduce the redness in my skin and makes it feel more hydrated. The antioxidant dense natural ingredients such as red algae extract, pomegranate and resveratrol are designed to soothe, brighten and hydrate, and they really deliver. I spritz this on throughout the flight, trying to avoid spritzing the people next to me! It also comes in a cute little travel size bottle, perfect for air travel.

Next I like to layer on a really hydrating night cream or mask. The Astara Nourishing Vitamin Mask is perfect for this. This brand uses all-natural raw botanicals and I love all of their beautiful masks. This one in particular is perfect for air travel as it has a rich creamy texture, and you can apply it and then just leave it on for the whole flight. It also contains an incredible list of ingredients specifically designed to nourish and soothe such as Vitamins C and E, squalane, hydrolyzed oat protein, royal jelly, pine extract, and hyaluronic acid, making it perfect for the dehydrating atmosphere on a flight.

Another couple of areas that can really suffer on a flight are the lips and eyes, so I really recommend bringing a great hard working lip balm. I am in love with the Novo Naturals Eucalyptus and Lavender Lip balm right now. It contains all-natural ingredients to hydrate the lips such as shea butter, coconut oil and beeswax so your lips feel really smooth and hydrated. But also this balm has eucalyptus and lavender extracts; both scents that remind me of being in a spa and so they immediately make me feel more relaxed. Perfect to calm any flight nerves….

For the eyes, I am completely mad about the Talika Decompress Eye MasksThey have a really innovative design. You squeeze the blue liquid from one side of the pod into the other side which contains the mask. So a great design for travelling. Then all you do is apply the eye mask for around 10 minutes and trust me, your eye area will feel like a completely different beast. Beautiful Japanese rose extract, camellia extract and camomile are just some of the soothing and hydrating ingredients in this lovely mask. I have tried so many eye masks over the years but this one is on another level. I don’t know what it is about it exactly but I feel incredibly relaxed the second I apply it. The brand has also created a 10 minute meditation podcast for relaxing body and mind while you are wearing it. How thoughtful! I like to put this one on in the last half an hour of a flight before reapplying a little make-up for arrival. With luck if you follow the routine I’ve described, your skin should be glowing and it should be a great canvas for make-up application.

Until next time beauty lovers….
